I have seen those screw extractors on TV and they look like they would work great. I have used left handed drill bits for years to back out screws and bolts, the only bad thing about them is they tend to "drill" too much. Those screw extractors may have that covered :-)

I read this over and over and every time I read it my head is haunted with the sound of the tool miester himself Bob Vila
There are tips here in the Garage forum for dealing with other types of broken bolts, studs, and even broken off easy outs. It looks like this tool is meant to take the place of a conventional "nut cracker" and would fit in locations that a nut cracker would not.
Sears Item #00952162000

I wonder who the manufacturer is?
This is the large 13pc set for $40
There are two 5pc smaller sets available, one has a plastic case that has room for the other set also, They are $20 each
I don't know what the "other" 3 pcs are...
I will get a set of these AND the screw outs. The screw outs look like they would work well. I have used left handed drill bits for screw outs but they tend to drill. I have also ground an old broken drill bit shank into something like the screw outs and it "worked" but the angles were not quite right.

According to the picture it looked like they had more gripping teeth than the Craftsman units. For the price of this 5 piece set you can get the big set from Craftsman. KD Tools are often available at parts houses.
