First it seems like i have to push the gas pedal down farther then i should have to. I have to almost put it to the floor to get it up to speed. The 4.0L has more power then what im getting. I had a 98 ranger 4x4 with the 4.0 and that thing had all kinds of power. Could the cat. be pluged? Dirty throttle body? It does have 163000 miles
Second the heater blower motor acts up somtimes. The other morning i went to start and warm it up. I turned the blower **** on high....nothing happend! Went back out 10min later and the heater was working. And also somtimes when you turn the heater down the blower wont change with it, theres a delay. Is this a blower or blower switch problem?
PO133 is bank 1 (passenger side before the cat) having a slow response. I had the same thing and replaced the o2 sensors, and it got rid of the light. I also replaced the other one before the cat (bank 2 driver side) because they were in need. The intake also may trip the light from what i heard, but i cant seem why. If anyone knows, plz let me know. PO401 and 402 have to go with the egr valve. 401 is insufficient and 402 is excessive. I had the same codes and replaced the DPFE sensor. Codes went out on my explo and I was happy. Very common on these explorers. It could also have a block in one of the hoses that go to the DPFE which could trip the code. Id still check the EGR valve given the mileage on the explo. That can drastically effect peformance More than likely its the sensor. It costed me 75 bucks at ford, but at autozone or whereever, there prob around 40. The O2 sensors should def improve fuel econony and peformance a lil bit.
also remember the 1996 had the lower HP 4L and a 4 speed trans. THe 1998 and later had much more HP and the 5 speed auto. I have a 1996 and 2002 and the 1996 seems like it has half the power of the 2002. both 4L V6, but different motor design.
