its a 99 f250 sd and somtimes the heater blows and somtimes it dosent. with the fan switch on it will blow like normal for a while then go off and on whenever. i think the fan motor works fine but am not sure. when its not working somtimes kicking the bottom of the heater box makes it work. is thisa common problem? is their an easy fix? any help would be great. the truck has 130,000 miles on it
When the blower motor actually runs, is it good and strong on the high setting. If it is weak, then it is more than likely the motor on its way out. They will operate weak or intermittent when they are toasted. Changed many of them in CV's with the same symptom. You access them from right under the hood, real easy to change. The only problem you might have is that on the newer motors there was a running change to the plug connector requiring you to get an adapter from Ford. They charged almost as much for the adapter as they did for the freakin motor. Not sure if this applys to the SD though, but probably, because alot of those type items are used across lines.
