I have an 03 Excursion with the factory in dash 6 cd changer and have never had any problems with it until last night out of the blue it gave a cd error when I tried to eject a cd. Now it says error on all 6 cds and wont play or eject any of them. I tried to search the forums but it seems most of the info on here deals with the external changers, or is of the "this unit is crap, get another one" variety. I am hoping someone has some kind of idea or trick to try as I have a hard time believing that one second this thing works and suddenly 1 minute later its broken. Thank you.
I had that problem once, I had the dash a part already so I just re-disconnected it. It's been fine for the last year. So the first thing I would sugest is disconnecting the battery for a little while and let the unit discharge. Hopefully it will cause the unit to re-initialize.
I have a similar problem. DISC ERROR. However I can load and eject all day long. The disc simply will not play. I have considered changing the head unit but I have been advised that an aftermarket head unit will not allow the rear entertainment sytem to function as it does with the stock unit.
Can any of you audiophiles out there confirm this for me?
Well, I poked around under the cd "lid" and found out that there was in fact a cd hung up in there. I poked at it with another cd and got it out enough that I could grab it with a pair of needle nose pliers. Everything started working again then. My only problem now is that cds keep getting hung up like this again. Something must be out of alignment or something. Im not sure what to do about this.

I'll give it a try. I had the unit out of the dash with the top off of it so I could view the activity . The disc's will load but will not spin in order for the eye to read. I'll try the cleaning disc.
If this does not work I'm going with the ipod FM modulator. I am only concerned with my wife having the ability to stay quiet/happy on road trips.
Replacing or repairing the stock unit is ridiculous. Everything else works great..
The rack rotation may be out of alignment. That may be a dealer issue. Do you use homemade cd's with labels? If so, that has been known to compact issues
I have the EXACT same problem with my 2002 F350 7.3L SD dually. The CD occasionally get hung up in the changer and I get the same ERROR message. So far, I've been able to eventually get them out. I do use home-made CD's but without labels........I just write on 'em with a Sharpie.
I too would like to know what the fix for this is.
Also, what do I need to do to be able to hook up an Ipod to the existing stock unit?
What's the trick audiophile setup for this truck; easy and within reason pricewise?
