Well, as it says, the ABS light has come on. I guess this means for some reason that the ABS system is not working. I did a search and some people have said maybe a bad sensor or brakes or something else. I have a 2000 Navi. Anyone with this experience have any ideas or possible remedies? Thanks
Without a scanner to pull a code the best bet is that the rear speed sensor is bad. I have changed one on my 98 and another on a friends 2000 Exploder. They are easy to change and relatively cheap. If you want you can unplug the sensor and check acrossed the terminals for resistance if you have none you know you found the problem.
Yes, I had to change mine last summer when it was about 97 in the afternoon, so I did it in the morning. Did not even have to jack mine up, took about 15 min. Dan
I did the same thing. It is on top of the rea diff. It is held on by one screw and one plug. The sensor cost about $23 from the dealer. It is a common problem. If it doesn't fix the problem, it is a bit if preventive maintenance. When my sensor went out, the brake pedal seemed to press down a bit further than before the sensor went out. Hope this helps.
I am embarassed to say that I paid several hundred to the dealer to check and then replace the rear sensor. I even guessed (based on many posts here) that it was the rear sensor. I wish I had just been bold and tried replacing it...$23 bucks would have been a good bet even if it turned to be a problem somewhere else.
