Question No luck finding diff. cover

Recently there was several posts about an aluminum differential cover number#8C3Z 4033A and AA. I am changing my fluid over to a synthetic and thought alright I will also replace the cover with a new one from the dealer. I called the parts dept. this morning with the part number and was informed that although it is a valid number, the part is not available from any warehouse in the country. The parts guy did not know why, he said to try back in a month or two. I am wondering if anyone that has tried to buy this part has had any better luck.

fordparts.com told me a week or two. I said just send it when you get it.
It's a brand new part and just now being distributed. There are people who have them already. Just luck of the draw I guess.

mines on order from the local dealer. The biggest problem is that all the part numbers flying around here aren't acutally part numbers. Thats all the number we can ever find and thats what is on the part but they are actually engineering numbers. so sometimes the part people don't know how to cross those numbers. I just tell my very good counter person I have an engineering number and they can usually cross it for me. But all the f4tz, 8c3z type number aren't actually part numbers though they are usually used as part numbers even by Ford. I don't know why they do it like this but thats what I have been told.

for the diff cover make sure you sure you use the single A number and not the double. then tell them you have an engineering number. That is the correct number for the diff cover is just technically not a part number.
