i'm sure this has been covered here many of time, i am having no luck using the search feature, but im trying to find some info on these battery boxes ford used on the frame rail... i've found a few in the yards, but there all junk, so if someone knows of a thread i could read thru that might have the factory part number from ford, and what else is involved with this addition... wires, isolators... pleas post up a link....
i found a power inverter i want to run but i need MOAR POWA!!!!
Hi....recently i bought another 4x4 van .....my plan is to have an aux battery and use a marine type switch to control which battery is being used at the time. I knew about using the OEM Ford ambulance aux mounts but when i started pricing them thru Ford, i knew i could save a bundle either thru Car-parts.com or Ebay. I actually came up with a better solution using a bolt on battery box from Speedway Motors. Cost is $35.00 plus shipping. I will use a side terminal deep cycle Optima so that im using a maintenance free battery and not have to deal with adding water. You can mount this on either side of the main frame rails but im going to install mine on the drivers side ahead of the fuel tank. The main battery is mounted on the drivers side in the engine compartment in my Van and i will rewire the positive cable to the battery switch instead of to the starter solenoid and then add the new aux positive cable to the other side of the switch. Im pretty confident doing the install this way will work much better and save $$$ in the long run.
FYI......i think you have your wires crossed......When it was mentioned above about a 6.0 that wasnt a gas 6 cylinder but the 6.0 Diesel which has alot of power and torque.
45 bucks, and the guy has PALLETS of them! They are used on Motorhome chassis when shipped, and almost all of them are taken off. They also ship with useless fuel tanks and tow mirrors that are often sold online.
