Here's some pics of my 97 F-150 vs. a 99 nissan altima thingee...
I was doing about 45 when she ran a red and turned infront of me. The passenger had a lacerated liver, broken pelvis, fractured spine, internal bleeding in the head, was in a coma for a week and last I heard in rehab for at least 6 months. The driver walked away with a broken wrist and head lacerations. All that happened to me was being really pissed at her stupidity.
I hit her, then bounced off a '05 International box truck grille (trashed), then into a Taurus (totalled too) and that pushed into a toyota. My only regret is that I didn't total more japanese cars. Thankfully no one died...
I often think about that ....... when I'm sitting at a light or something, and I look down at a Honda Civic or similar car, with a young mom and her little kids in it. What a hurting my truck would do to that little car. Makes ya think.
2 kids in Fond Du Lac WI were killed instantly last week after jumping a railroad crossing at "excessive speed", loosing control and wrapping the little Honda around a tree. I watched the news report with my wife, she turned to me and said "That's why we don't drive small cars. That could have been us instead of a tree."
Don't get me wrong, I was pretty impressed. But a totalled truck is a totalled truck.
My truck actually probably would have been better off if the guy hit it straight on, as it was he hit on the drivers side and it bent the back of the frame, and when he hit the rear axle it shoved forward doing god knows what to the tranfer case, tranny, and engine.
