Here is the damage to my SD bein hit by a chick who ran a red light while i was making a left turn....(she had a scion, the whole left side of her car wuz destroyed......)God bless Super Dutys!!!
Whattatruck250 Nice looking truck (except for the rice burner bite). What size lift and tires are you running? Mine will grow up to look like yours some day.
wow, looks like she hit squared-on the bumper bracket that bolts to the frame... I would check that part of your frame, JUST in case... still not bad, though, lol...
glad nobody was hurt .. these trucks CAN do some damage ..
Ran a call yesterday, where a woman in a Jeep Liberty skidded in the rain, got sideways, and got t-boned by an F250 on the Jeep's driver side. Superduty driver was hurt, but not life threatening. The woman in the Jeep didn't fare so well. She was killed instantly. Her 6 month old in the back seat (in proper car seat and restraint) was okay at least.
Ive fixed dozens and dozens of hard wrecked superdutys, there the toughest of all trucks by far, its pretty hard to bend the frames. Its always ugly when they hit another car though.
A while back in my town a superduty got in a head with a little car on the highway, The car was seriously disinegrated into little pieces, couldnt even tell what it was, both people in the car were obviously killed instantly, the superduty was totaled, but it didnt look to awfull bad.
Sitting at a stoplight last summer I watched a superduty pulling a trailer slam into the back of a stopped dodge minvan. The van flew up in the air, flipped onto the top and was spinning in the middle of the intersection. the entire back half was smashed into the middle. The super duty had the back tailgate attached to his grill. As I drove past the pulled over SD, it appeared he only hurt his grill. Inside the van were 3 small kids that mom was taking somewhere. Didn't ever find out if any deaths. They were wearing seatbelts. I think the SD driver was looking somewhere else, then up, only to see the light had turned red and the van didn't go through. I never take forgranted the destruction my 8000 lb F250 could do to a family car. Wonder what 2 F250 SD's would look like in a head on?
What a sad and surreal thread this has turned out to be. All very true...and I agree NOT to take for granted what kind of destruction these trucks can do.
Well... I was expecting to see a pic of whatatruck's truck all smashed up with a rant about stupid drivers... glad to see the damage was minimal.
As for the other posts, it's always unfortunate when somebody gets hurt or killed. One more reason to be in a big truck though; it at least gives you a fighting chance when another driver isn't paying attention.
damn man, time to upgrade to an 05+ bumper. i really dont wanna think about what will happen if somebody gets in an accident with me.. stuff will get destroyed.
Guys, I spent 3 years in Japan (thanks to my Uncle Sam) and I tell folks, those vehicles from Japan and Korea are just popcans on wheels. Even the bigger trucks aren't safe. You spend three years in a country where they just wanna get out and drive and you'll see some NASTY accidents.
The folks with $ over there drive US built vehicles...that's a big status symbol to them.
My dad got rear ended in his 03' SD CC by a 16 YO girl in a Hyndai. My dads truck got a new bumper and a new trailer hitch. The Hyndai was totaled. The slide in part of the hitch hit the engine block and punch through everything in front of it. Nobody was hurt.
We joked that it felt like a fly hit us in the rear. Built Ford Tough.
