Just got a call from Haldeman Ford in Hightstown New Jersey. They told me they have recalls to check various things and make possible adjustments. One thing he said was the speed sensor wiring harness needed to be replaced.
Why can't it be the ball joints have a recall!!! LOL
Watch out... A lot of dealers will use this to bait you into their location only to tell you that you need x amount of work done but they'll be kind enough to give you x amount of money on your truck towards a new Ford. Dealers generally don't contact people about recalls; Ford does.
Keep an eye out on this one. It screams low class dealer.
Since they don't seem to value your time you should return the favor. Take the truck in there and get a list of all that work needed, what they'll give you, etc. When they make you an offer and try to sell you a new car tell them this gives you a perfect excuse to buy that Toyata Tundra you've been eyeing. Grab your keys and go home.
My 02 went in for recall last year on the wiring harness. A few of the trucks went on fire when the were just sitting in the driveway--
from usatoday-
Ford said last year its review found that brake fluid could leak through the cruise control's deactivation switch into the system's electrical components, leading to corrosion. That could lead to a buildup of electrical current that could cause overheating and a fire.
Dealers installed a fused wiring harness to the cruise control deactivation switch to prevent the risk of fire if the switch leaked
