I had to replace mine last year and I went through 3 before I got one to work right
Same here. Mine was cutting in and out and causing the truck to shut off at highway speeds. It started back up right away, but was getting worse.
I tried several parts store ones. They were crap. I stopped at a stealership in SD while we were on vacation and got one that worked sort of. My speedo used to be dead on. Now, it drops by about 5mph once in a while at 65 and above. Cruise doesn't work because of it.
I'll have to find a dealership this week and see what other recalls need to be done. I just put a CPS in two weeks ago. Same thing as I've read elsewhere. The gray ones are crap. Last 6 months at most. Finally found a black BWD at Advance Auto Parts. So far so good.
The VSS affects cruise control. My CC worked (as in it would turn on), but it wouldn't hold a steady speed and was jerking because the VSS wasn't sending a consistent speed.

Gotcha.
I'm getting a consistent reading on the dash, but the computer is seeing me as going faster.
I wonder whats up with that?
I know it used to read the correct speed on my scangauge.
Could your default setting be off on your scan gauge? I was messing with mine and i got it to read some wild mph numbers. Under tire size it is sopost to be 100.
I was going though my scan gauge when cruising 70 on the highway, little did I know my truck thought i was doing 150.
Scan gauge doesn't read MPH does it?

Go to a scrap yard and find a new/used sensor before getting a brand new one from Ford, if it's the quality of their cam sensors...
Or find you a friendly Ford diesel tech that will go ahead and just hand you the recall parts and enter your VIN in the computer. He get's paid by Ford for his effort (since he's typically getting underpaid for recall work anyway) and you get your VIN off the list so they stop sending you those stupid notices. You also get a free CPS to carry around as a spare.
By the way, do you happen to have any scan guages left over from the last group buy? Or have another group buy planned soon? Turns out I need another one.
I'm having what I believe to be VSS issues on my F-150. Seems to be the same VSS as my PSD has. Get above ~65mph and the speedo starts going crazy, bouncing between 60-85mph. It has a new parts store VSS, all new parts in the rear end, and a good pigtail. Unplugged the ABS module behind the glove box and the speedo is perfect now. Gonna investigate this VSS recall a bit.

Try an OEM sensor, sometimes the parts store units are kind of wonky.
