well the banks wheel is nothing more than a stock wheel for the 94.5 to 97 trucks and the 1.15 housing is also stock. the .84 gain, not sure. mainly you will see better turbo response but at the price of higher back pressure. I haven't seen any dyno number comparing stock(1.15), 1.0 and .84 exhaust housings
if your looking for bigger injectors its best to stay with the stock exhuast housing. they stock turbo will work well for stage 1's but the best thing is a D66 which is a modified stock turbo from beans diesel performance.
what kind of mods do you have to your truck alread? there are anumber of things you need before you put injectors in it. its time to take inventory before you get too far into this.
10-4, I have the 3" down pipe 4" straight pipe all the way out but I do have a stack kit what do you think works better. I and a cone K@N on the turbo and I have 3 chip what work better TS 140 and EZ box, the evolution I have the evolution on now.
good start there with the exhuast and intake. I'm not real crazy about K+N's keep a close eye on dust that may be getting into the intake. K+N have a history of dusting engines where they let too much dirt in and sand blast the turbo and cylinders. For the exhuast I like my stacks but its up to you. as long as you have upgraded to 3inch round dowpipe and a mandrel bent 4" you good to go. Which ship are you running right now? AS far as what works best, DP tuner and Tony Wildman are top dogs around here. they consistantly turn out excellent programs and have awesome customer service. Many have gone from TS, Edge, Superchip to one of these guys and wonder why they ever bought the other in the first place. More power, better exhuast gas temps, better tranny shifting all for the same price.
Other things you need to get is at the very least a pyrometer (exhuast temp gauge), then optional are boost gauge and tranny temp guage. Also if you do injectors your tranny will suffer. at the very least you need a huge cooler and a sonnax or trans go shift kit or best case a BTS valve body even better would be to get a triple disc billet toque converter. Then you can safely start adding injectors. If you do get injector you will want to have your chip reburned for them to get the most out of the larger injectors.
I think the exhaust housing sizes move the power curve to lower rpms. It doesnt really make more power, just at different rpms. The stock turbo can handle about 30psi but after that they wear out fast.
I run a D66, Dp-Tuner with TW tuning, Stage 1 injects and let me tell you that its a potent combo. I have scorched some turbos in my time and the D66 is holding up to everything im throwing at it. As far as power goes, i have put down 412hp with the "triple threat", as i like to call it. All with a stock HPOP. Im soon to have an updated HPOP outta a SD and gonna throw on an IC to get temps down but at this point its all grins brother!
sound good I cant wait. do yall run a intercooler and if so do yall run the meth&water though it or what. is a 6.0 intercooler better than a 99up 7.3 what would be a better gain.
sorry with a lot of ?? but I want this right thanks, I have a 1997 F-350 & 1995 F-250 are they any difference in the turbos or any thing that I could change for some more HP.
Your trucks have the same turbos. But the 97 is rated for 10 more hp, 225 vs 215. Remember this is at the crank, to the ground its no more than 180hp
The 6.0 intercooler is about 30% larger than the 7.3 intercoolers so it is a little better.
Water meth (drugs) is another seperate power adder. It is usually used on the dyno or on the track because on those long trips you have to keep filling the tank with washer fluid. Intercoolers are a perminate fix to intake temps.
