New Guy...and A Couple Questions
Great site! Should have found it earlier. Here's the deal with my truck: 2000 F-250 7.3 Powerstroke 4x4 lariat. I do have it lifted 4" with 35 BFG's, intake done, Superchip, etc....
I have a couple thing which have been bothering me. First of all, i can be driving and it will "cough" or shut off. Have to put it into netural and restart quickly...NOT SAFE and I hear this CPS stuff????...I would think FORD should be doing something about this... Is it the CPS?
Secondly, the steering at times gets very hard to turn at slow speeds, but driving, the "play" in the wheel is nuts...way too much. Need help with that too.
Finally, if I wanted to get the interior seats recovered, is there a place to order the skins from?
Thanks

Welcome!!
Welcome to the site! Before I offer what I can I'll let you know that becoming a supporter of this site will allow you to search for answers (VERY handy at 2AM when you're wrenching and others are sleeping!) and will be the best bang-for-your-buck investment in your truck! That said...
You're issue with the power just quitting is probably a CPS. prices are going up but they can still be had for $60ish off ebay. Buy 2 and keep the 2nd & tools in your truck.
Your steering sounds like 2 issues.
1. The lack of "oomph" at low speed might just be you're low on fluid. IT'S NOT POWER STEERING FLUID, IT'S TRANNY FLUID... at least it should be! Check your fluid levels, make sure you don't have any leaks and that the cap is on tight. there is a metal tube right next to the filler for the power steering system - put some 3/8" fuel line over it to keep it from rubbing through your reservoir.
2. The slop in steering could be something loose or needing adjustment. Make sure everything is tight.
Seat covers - generic ones will fit poorly. Find a local upholstery shop and get custom ones made - they won't slip around like generics will. I've got a crewcab and a 90lb dog and for the back seat I use a Full Size cotton bed sheet to cover it. It slips some but not much and is super easy to clean. Eventually I'll be buying the rear seat that lays flat like a couch for the pup!!
If you'd also update your profile so we know what part of the country you inhabit you may just find some locals like Amiller93 to come drink your beer!! LOL - if he offers, let him!!! His knowledge (and MANY others) is worth a couple kegs!

Well on a 2000 the tach should jump up around 100 - 300 rpm just prior to cranking if it doesnt its a sign of the CPS (witch it does sound like)
