Some people are just plain stupid!
Ok,let me get this off my chest. It will be just a little rant.
I got paged out to a house on fire yesterday and as I am coming down the street,in the BIG RED Firetruck, with my lights flashing, people are trying to park in front of the house so they can watch it burn. There are three cops there, yelling at people to get out of my way. So,what do they do,pull half way off the street (on both sides)and then get out of their cars! Now I have to thread the truck through the street to the other end where the hydrant is,turn around, drop off a firefighter and a hydrant wrench and start dropping LDH up to the house so I can run a supply line to the other pumper truck. As I am laying hose, this idiot woman comes up behind me,drives right over the firehose (with a fireman behind her yelling DONT DRIVE OVER THE HOSE!She gets to the house and STOPS.Right in the middle of the road!I get right up behind her and hit both the siren and the airhorn! This gets the cops attention and he comes running over, yelling at her to get out of the way.I radio over to him to make her wait until I get my lines all hooked up so I can talk to her.I get water flowing, then I go up and ask her if she knows it is against the law to drive over a firehose. She gets real cocky and tells my I am full of **** that there is no such law.So this gets my blood boiling.I call the cop over, ask him to inform her about the law and tell her that if I wanted I could have her arrested for all the stupid things she just did.I then go on with trying to do my job. After I am all done and am repacking my truck, the cop comes up and tells me that he gave her two choices.one he would give her a ticket and she could leave,or two,she could wait until I was done and apologize to me,which was about an hour after I talked to her.She waited, then apologized, saying she did not know it was against the law.I didnt believe her,and still dont. But I was nice and said if I ever see you on a firescene again,I hope you remember this. She said she would. But you can bet,if she does it again, she gets a ticket!Ok,rant over, but tell me.Did you know it is against the law to drive over a firehose?

Me too. I didn't know It was against the law, but like Ihateminimumwage said, common sense would tell you not to drive over a firehose. Also, common sense would say, even if I didn't know there is a law I would figure there could be, so don't drive over the hose. And the nerve of some people to stop right in the middle of things to prevent you guys from doing your job. The cop should have given her a ticket and made her apologize.
Didn't know it was against the law, but common sense would dictate not doing it in the first place!
My thoughts too. It's not like driving over a garden hose. The stupidity of people always amazes me...and then there are those who are almost proud to be stupid
Yes I know it's against the law.I made similar rants when I was still active in the local VFD. Also loved boneheads who block hydrants. If we had the 30 seconds it took on a short hose lay we would loop a section of LDH around vehicle blocking a hydrant.Charge the line and you have instant impound lot.
The way it works in Vegas............Any IMO is great, Metro cops follow the fire trucks to there destination. Where they set up a perimeter to stop any traffic in the area, Safety for the fire fighters and the lurkers! To tell you the truth I didn't know that law. Learn something new every day!!!!
