I have a 76 F100 as my first vehicle, and am running into some electrical problems. Whenever I put the lights on (first point on the little tab you pull out) the left signal light indicator lights up. It is duller than average and does not flash. It also does not allow the use of the signal light. I personally hope it is a bad ground, as we have already replaced the flasher, and if it is a wiring problem it may be a little difficult to find.
Probably a bad ground in one of the signal bulbs. Could also be a broken filament shorting across the running and signal circuits inside the bulb. Try unplugging bulbs till the dash light goes out. That should be the affected socket/bulb.
Well, I took the front light's grounds and shined them and the metal they contact. I would have done the backs but I didn't have the proper wrench. Now, the light still remains, but when I turn on the signal light it indicates it is working but it actually does not. Any more ideas?

Does the light come on but doesn't blink? Does the dash light come on but the actual turn light doesn't come on. Many things here can cause such conditions.
Bad bulb, bad relay, bad turn signal switch.
I just went through this replacing the turn signal switch. I found the replacement part wires were too long and required trimming and repositioning.
Once you get it right it will be solid.
Order of troubleshoot imo:
Since the light is active. Checking the fuse is unnecessary.
Clean sockets and replace with new bulbs or known good.
Check or replace blinker relay
Pull steering wheel and look at the blinker switch.
My brake light stopped working and well as my turn signal because of that switch. However, the headlights, tail and side markers ended up working throughout the process.
He was getting feedback power through the running lights circuit.
Now that the front is clean...he need to fix ther bulb socket connection in the rear so the bulb will illuminate can cause the flasher to heat up and break contact.
Ford TS systems require BOTH Front and Rear Bulbs to draw power .... to trigger the flasher.
IMO, his problem is ...he has a bad connection at the rear bulb and it needs to be cleaned and made secure.
Dennis - I think your right on the money as usual.
I threw out a few other possibilities to look at just in case. I do believe as do that cleaning all the bulb sockets and making sure that good connections and grounds are the most likely issue.
I had this problem, and it ended up being the circut board on back of speedometer cluster, where it plugs in, if I wiggled it or put pressure on it would work, changed it out and fixed.
