Has any of you replaced door hinges on F150/F250. I noticed on the passenger side of mine the door is sagging just a bit, and it seems that the hinges are worn out...Looks like it would be a common problem for the p/u body style. Any tips/tricks/hints would be appreciated.
Do a search and you'll find at least one previous thread with more details and tips.
But no, it isn't all that tough. I replaced the pins and, IIRC, bushings on the hinges of my 88 a number of years ago. The hardest part was getting in to grind enough of the old pin away to enable driving it through and out of the hinge.
Dealer has the kits, don't know if they are available aftermarket.
It is a straightforward job, though, and not an uncommon problem.
NAPA has the hinge pin kits (pin, two bushings & e-clip). Two kits needed per door. Replace both of them if you are doing them. Die grinder and a ball bit work the best on grinding off the old pins swage.
I would have killed for a die grinder the time I did mine. Didn't own one then. Used an angle grinder with a new wheel to get much of the grinding done then a file to get enough knocked off I could drive the things out.
Yeah, beg borrow or steal a die grinder and you'll be done in no time!
i was able to get the pin kits at autozone. they had them on the shelf. i used a dremel tool to cut the pin in half then drove it out. it's fairly easy to do and worth the $8 or so per door to make it shut and line up much better.
