Over the last month or 2 i have been going threw all the posts that i thought were important to me (about page 670 right now, have alot of free time!)The posts have been extremly informative, but a few times i read about FOMOCO will reflash the computer due to poor milage on these trucks. I looked through the TSBs and didnt find anything like that.(tried a search but didnt find much)
Is there such thing as this reflash or did i get some false info?
Does it cost anything?
im pretty sure they WILL reflash your computer - but knowing car dealers - it wont be cheap - youd probably be better off buying a programmmer and doing it yourself.
The last time I had mine in for other stuff they reflashed it for free, it was an update. I asked him what it was for and he seemed to think it was to make the tranny shift smoother. I laughed since I was just going to put my tune back in and make it shift good and hard again. They do do updates as they get data back from the first year trucks and change some things but I think a lot of it is for emissions.
So i think ill make an appointment this weekend maybe, what would it be called? Power and economy computer reflash or somthing lol.
Last time i went to the dealer, i looked around the parking lot at all the sweet vehicles like the mustangs and king ranches while my truck got my recall done.
Ask them to check to see if your ecu has the newest update. it will only take them a few minutes. They did mine for free while I was getting another problem fixed
I called ford to make an appointment for the reflash, and they said id have to pay about $100 for a reflash since my truck is a 98 with no warranty.
Do i have to have them work on the truck to get it free or something. I dont need them to work on it since i do pretty much everything on my truck.
When did you guys get yours done? Were you under warranty still?
