I have been told that due to my truck being a 94 1/2 year model I would have to have the computer reflashed to 95 and new so that the OBDII can be used. I have programer but can't use it. I took the truck to Rusty Eck to get the computer reflashed so that I could use a programer on it. The Ford tech could not reflash the computer and I was told that I will need to put a new computer in the truck if I want to used the OBDII port. I need a 95 or newer computer (Ford # F5TF 12A650 BTE). If I go to Ford this will cost me about $700.00 with core chage and still would have to have the computer reflashed. Any Ideas??????
I have been told before, that only the programmer that was used to modify it can flash it back to default. They serial number the programmer with the chip.
Now... I cannot tell you that this is true, or not true, but this info was passed on to me by a somewhat reliable source, and he told me this was true with his General Motors product.
The 94.5's had both the EECIV and the OBDII however the OBDII didn't have all the available pids that a 95 and up has, I replaced mine with a 97 ECM and got all the pids available to the 97 trucks.
Having said that if you have an acctuall diag. tool that will allow you to enter vehicle info rather than the tool reading the vin for you you can tell the scanner it is a 96 truck and get a few more pids but not all of them.
