dynomax duals

hey
i was browsing the jegs catalog for a high flow y-pipe for my '96 f150, when i saw that dynomax made a "bolt-on" true dual kit. up until now i hadn't heard of anything pre-bent for my truck, and the local custom shops want 700+ w/o cats or mufflers. has anyone tried the dynomax kit? if so, how well made is it? and extra parts or bending required?
its part number 289-89016 on jegs if anyone is interested in looking.
thanks for any help

I have no clue on the true dual kit, but local shops want $700 before cats or mufflers? That's nutz. Where have you been shopping? Try Lou's Custom exhaust. They should be able to do much better than that I would think.

their true dual kit on jegs is not bolt on, if I remember correctly it is a pre bent true dual kit for universal aftermarket header setups. It is a NO WELD(bolt on) kit but it wont bold directly to your stock manifolds I dont think. I may be wrong so you might want to contact dynomax and find out yourself.

cdr - i tried lou's first, and that's where i got the quote for 700.

basspro - i have hooker shorties that are going to go on when i get duals/y-pipe. the description said it will bolt to the stock manifolds or headers. i was more concerned with how well it's pre-bent because there are a lot of tight spots arond the t-case and transmission.

thanks

Wow, really? They have always been the cheapest and best quality around for me.

Nothing right now. I've been thinking about a Flowmaster 40, but havn't done anything yet. I'm actually thinking about buying a new truck, so I'll have to make that decision first.

Is the $700.00 for a Mandrel Bent system?

I got duals out the back on my 74' from a local exhaust shop. 2 1/2'" Alum. Steel tubing, Glasspacks, installed with all hangers as well as having the headers installed for $270.00. Not mandrel bent.

Of course your 96' has some emmisions to deal with that my 74' doesn't but $700 for just pipes and install is nuts.

Maybe try calling another Lou's shop or try to find someone who knows what they are talking about? Maybe the guy you talked to didn't know what he was talking about. I know I got a single in dual out Flowmaster mandrel bent with dual 4x24" tips for $475 out the door. The tips alone were like $100 each and the muffler was $80.
