I currently have a 15 degree HPOP. I have been looking for a 17 degree at a reasonable price, so far everyone wants the old pump back which leads be to believe that they are rebuilding them to be 17 degree pumps. Has anyone updated an older pump to a 17 degree pump? I would rather update the pump myself if that is indeed what is going on. Just haven't been able to find any rebuild kits or parts to make it a 17 pump.
if you interested i have pump for your truck, with 200miles on it, it was problem with one of the pistons on hes truck, so he sold me the pump, turn up i didnt know that 99.5 and up had diferent pumps, so im stuck with it, give me a reasonable offer, and we can make deal, i dont need it, and ill be going with Terminator suner or later,
no lines ot anything attached ,,,,,,
looks new too, sticker is not dirty, , i can send you pix if interested
I upgraded my 97 with a 15 degree pump and AD injectors to a 17 degree pump and I could tell the difference. pulled harder at the top end and not more easy check engine light. well worth it especially since the pump was free. Core engine sitting in the shop that we paid the core on it rather than send it back. watch on ebay for 17degree pumps. everynow and then there is a good deal on one.
I have been watching eBay and haven't seen any lately, I am definately wanting a 17 degree pump for the same reasons tjbeggs described in results. There are a lot of 15 degree pumps that I have seen. Wonder how hard it would be to stack to 15 degree pumps. I will have to look into it.
it would be same to stack to 15* pumps and 2 17*pumps. The pump themselves are the same externally. If you can get another 15* pump, then buy the stealth economy setup that you should have plenty of pressure.
I got lucky to get mine for 300 without a core, so im probably gonna stack the 17 with the 15. It does pull harder on the top end and you can notice it. I noticed much more from the pump than the turbo swap.
Can someone explain to me the "degree" thing? I know from reading posts that my early 99 has a 13 degree HPOP, but I have no idea as to what the degrees mean. How different is a 15 or 17 degree? I imagine it puts out higher pressure to the heads? Also, I think I have the AB injectors?? Can I keep these injectors, or would I have to run AD's or something else? Thanks!!
your early 99 has a 15* pump. the pump use a number of small pistons that run inside a rotating chamber that reminds me much of a revolver (the gun) the pistons go where the bullets go. the pistons then run against a solid mounted ramp and that moves the pistons back and forth pressurizing the oil. the ramp is the varible. the incline and therefore the stroke of the piston is changed. the 15 degree pump is less sloped than the 17*
Gotcha- kinda like the hydraulic pumps in the Cobra helicopters I work on. Is it possible to just rebuild a pump for less than buying one with a 17* ramp? Also, will a 17* pump do anything better for my truck with stock injectors, or would I be better off throwing in some AD's?
The ramp is built into the body of the pump I believe. there are few companies who are trying to come out with a 20 degree pump. I believe one was out a while back but is no langer sold.
the 17* will be a good addition even with you AB injectors. no need to run AD's. many 94.5 to 97 guys even get the 17* pump for their AA injectors. its a good upgrade no matter what over a 15* pump.

I guess I haven't looked into it that much, do you have a link to more info on the stealth economy setup? This sounds like the route I'd probably go.
