what can cause a bliker on a 68 to not blink, we have changed the flasher and replaced the bulbs, but when the left blinker is turned on the light in the dash comes on but does not blink, what else do I need to check
thanks
Dirt and corrosion are the biggest culprits. The brake and blinker as you call it share the same filament in the bulb. Test your bulb on the other side of the truck. Should it work on the right side you can eliminate the bulb as the culprit.
There are three wires that come to the rear of the truck. Dennis can help with which color goes where. One of the three wires is the tail/license plate wire, the other two are the brake (shared) and the left and right blinker.
Use a battery terminal brush in the sockets and try to clean any dirt or corrosion out.

FYI: There are two flashers under the dash. One for turn signals, one for the emergency flashers.
If the signals flash on one side, but not the other, it isn't the flasher..it's a wiring/connection issue, or a bad bulb (#1157 clear /# 1157NA amber). If the bulb lights up in the front, but doesn't flash, it could be a burned out taillight bulb...check that.
