Question boost=14psi EGT=185'f

Installed my boost, and pyro guages this weekend. No wonder my truck has no power. My boost is reading 14psi max normally.Once I hit 16psi on a cold night(35')My pyro was only reading 100'.I really thought this was wrong, but went to the place I purchased the guages and he shot my manifold w/a laser thermometer and it was 185'f on drivers side and 155'f on passenger side. What the heck is going on?

14-16lbs and 100* don't add up. 185* at idle might be. I think you have a problem with your install. Is you pyro probe mounted pre or post turbo?

My probe is mounted pre-turbo in the up-pipe on the drivers side.100'f is the readig on the guage,we got a laser reading of 185'f after a 25mi. drive, still 100'f on guage.

and where did the guy measure the temp?
i think as zx250 said that you have install problem, check you wires going to the Pyro gauge, make sure you have good ground, that my be the problem,
what gauges do you have ?
i had problem with my Autometer Pyro , at idle would show 750* and wot would go out of scale,
make sure your probe end its in the middle of the pipe

double check the install on the gauges, and turbo gauge did you use a ferule on the line to crimp it? maybe you crimped the line and crushed ferule,
check it again, and if you know you did it right , maybe you have bad gauge

Your gauge is not reading your EGT's. As for the lazer reading... mmm... I wouldn't think that is much above minimal flash point for fuel so I gotta question that also. The boost numbers are a little low but acceptable for a stock setup. You need to find out why your Pyro's not working and go from there. My gauge seldom falls below 300*. I'm thinking something is not grounded. If you wonder about the lazer reading, run you truck, wait a few seconds, splash a little water on the uppipe and if it turns to steam, then you know that it is above 185*

Is your truck firing on all 8? after a 25 mile run and then idling for 1 minute I get 275 or so.

Unplug the probe from the gauge and set a multimeter on millivolt scale and crank the truck check the 2 wires from the probe. Most probes used will read between 0.01mv and 0.1mv.

My gauges are Autometer and these are the directions I followed http://www.dieselmanor.com/diy/PSD3...D73gauge-p1.htm The only step not shown, is grounding the pyrometer.I grounded mine to the lower dash chassis behind the fuse acces panel on the right hand side. There you'll find a ground bolt w/2 existing ground wires.I thought this to be suitable.I did use a ferule on the boost gauge,I have not checked on it but,I took my time on the install and I could be wrong but,I dont think its the install

Did you trim your wire from your sending unit to your gauge? They are calibrated together. Also you can check your ground by getting a multimeter and touching your ground connection (I.E. - the round connector you used to bolt it down with. Sometime alittle corrosion or paint can cause high resistance which could affect over all gauge performance. Are you sure your getting at least 12 volts to your gauge. Doing the math it almost looks like voltage is 6-8 volts due to resistance values I've previously measured when I was doing mine. Another thing to check is your connections to your pyro itself. If none of that is it the you know it's your gauge or pyro sending unit. There are more things you can do to check you gauge and sending unit, but you would have to contact the gauge manufacture to get expected values for your equipment
