i took my truck to ford this morning for a warrenty problem to get checked out(the famous oil leak in the back of the engine) and while talking to the guy i asked him if i was to straight pipe my truck would that void any warrenty (cause i was gonna straight pipe it this morning) and he says as long as it has the catalayic converter on there it would be ok, i said i dont have any cat, just a muffler, thats how it was when i bought the truck, anyways i phoned ford canada today and asked if this truck is supposed to have a cat, and they said yes it is to have one from the factory. but the guy at the dealership acted like he has doing me a favor by saying "ah we'll forget that we talked about this and bring it in" , what a dipShiit,
anyways, just wanted to tell you this story, and for some eason they say its not covered, there gonna be a meltdown at the ford stealership i tell you. so i will have to wait until my warrenty runs out to do any straight pipeing (like that has anything to do with an oil leak)
they gave me some dye to throw in the engine, have any of you used this and are there any problems with using it cause i just changed the oil yesterday?
That's the impression I was left with. I actually dont think I've seen a 7.3 yet with one on it, even though I've heard they're out there.
Yeah, your guy is being dumb. But the bright side is, it'd be really really easy to set him straight, even politely, if you ended up having to need to.
I can not for the life of me see how changing an exhaust pipe could do anything at all that would impact your warranty.

The way I understand this warranty thing, it that Ford has to prove to the customer that the modification you made actually caused the defect or problem that is being fixed.
Are you guys are confirming what I said or disputing it? Note that I said Ford didn't put them on most 7.3s, not did. Seems like you read my post as Ford did put them on most 7.3s.
I was told the only way to have a cat on the vehicle during the 7.3 years is to have the California emissions package. All others had no cat Federal emissions.
