I've only had a romp one other time (the life of this truck) and it was on first start-up after "big oil" but not again until this little episode. Didn't do it this morning, so it hasn't done it in four cold starts now, huh.
Out of curiosity, does the romp hurt the engine in any way?
I get it every now and again after a cold night, but I know I am due for some glow plugs and/or contactor. Right now im too busy getting my new house ready to move into.......
BTW my romps appeared this A.M. and I narrowed it down to air in the fuel line, I had inadvertantly loosened one of my connections for my Cackle Cure kit a few nights ago and blew a hose off and soaked everything with diesel, after fixing said leak and starting truck, it romped hard for a few minutes. After 20 miles of HARD driving air seems to have left the system and now idles and starts perfectly.
First time reading this post, but I have seen the romps come and go several times, and almost everytime it was after I was messing with the fuel system. The fuel side, and not the oil side. I have never been able to narrow it down entirely, other than the removal of those little pressure snubbers semm to play a role. Sometimes.
You still had AIR in the high pressure oil rails and over night the air bubbles get togeather and move to the high piont in the rail that just so happens to be where the ICP sensor is so when you first start it, it romps cause the ICP readings are all over the bord. You will be fine now.

Should've updated this thread when the problem was a problem.
I figured it was air in the fuel system somewhere, if you'll remember this came shortly after my last injector change and we changed the pump and filter configuration and air could very well have been the culprit, either way it's gone and hasn't been back (knock on wood, now).
As for BITOG's additive, moreover Lucas 'test' well... it's BS and cofusing.
An engine is 'vented' in order to remove air from the oil. HIS model merely traps air, hence the foaming.
As for the oil 'settling' at the bottom and being 'disturbing' is retarded (IMO) and ole Bob took a bashing for those statements, as THAT's exactly what you want oil to do after an engine is shut off. Not remain in place to carmalize, as Bob would lead one to believe.
I haven't used Lucas on MY truck since this romping started, don't think it had anything to do with it, though. I DO still use Lucas in the road truck, every oil change, well over a million miles now.
