The best way to figure mileage is hand-calculated, using a GPS for the miles traveled, over an extended time period; there's just too much variation in fuel pumps, fuel quality, road conditions, weather, the "filler person", etc. to be very accurate on every individual fill-up.
I just returned from a 3800 mile (GPS miles) trip to Colorado, and averaged 18.5 mpg. I carried 100 gallons of B100 which, in my experience, decreases mpg's at least 5%. I was carrying two passengers, luggage, (a big rock on the return trip), used the A/C a lot and kept my highway speed at about 70 mph. In addition, there was quite a bit of mountain driving (of course, Colorado) but I'm not sure how much this affects mileage.
