can any one tell me the correct way to engage 4-wheel drive in my bronco. I seem to be doing something wrong it will go into 4l or 4h but with you have to work it. is could this be because of low fluid. It is easier when I change the fluid.HELP
My cousin had a 78, and my friend had a 79, both of them had to muscle it into 4wd. Maybe there was a problem with theirs too, but it seems to come with age. just my thoughts though.
I got a 79 bronco and what i do is lock the front hubs and move forward a little while still in 2wd. Then i put it in neutral and it shifts just fine. Sometimes you have to go one way before you go the other. when i try to shift in park it is harder so try neutral. When disengaging you might have to roll a little also.

I always shift my 79 in neutral. It's almost impossible in park. I also have a grinding noise when decelerating down a hill at highway speeds when there is no force either forward or backward on the gears. Does anyone know what the problem is here?
