I am thinking of putting Cherries on my 302 and was wondering if anybody else has them on their 302 and how they sound. And I have another question. Should I run turndowns in front of the differential or should I run the pipes out the back?
Cherry bombs will give you alittle more back pressure, but nothing to bad.
I have glass packs running pipe out the back with tips. Sounds good to me.
My glass packs sound just like cherry bombs, but when you let off the gas, they don't pop like cherry bombs do.
Well using too big a pipe will make it sound like tinny crap
With a stock 302... I would use 1 1/2" pipe max with Turbo's.
That's what I was told was the advantage of Turbos..it doesn't matter what engine they are behind.
I assume you will have dual exhaust ?
I can do without the glass packs, too much of a cop magnet. A good set of turbo mufflers or Flowmasters if you want to spend the extra $$$ give a 302 a nice deep sound. The cackly glasspacks and short pipes will also drive you nuts down the highway with the windows open. Good pipes and mufflers out the back IMO are the way to go....
I would go with turbos they are so nice all the time! And then when you get
on it they sound real good, with out the blue lights'' behide you'' ! I had a 79
Mustang that would set off car alarms just riding, built 351w. My 65 F-100
has newer crown vic muffs on it, the inlets and outlets cut out and replaced
with 2 1/2 inlets and outlets, man it sounds good! Cheery BOMBS start low
sound and they get louder and LOUDER! Well I don't want to make anybody
MAD ( but I am tired of FLOWMASTERS, and I had a set just sitting
round, but I wanted something different!
Has anybody used Flowtech Warlock mufflers? For my duals I am going to run 2 3/8" to the mufflers, then from the outlets I am going to run 2 1/2" with Mopar style bazooka tips.
Well lots of people run them there is a differnce there glasspacks are like the red straight piece of pipe goes in place of a muffler cherry bomb turbo are just like ordinary mufflers with the sounds check there site out
i like the way glasspacks sound! I also like for the exhaust to pop. My dad is running a flo-pro single in dual out on his 4.2 liter 2002 f-150, and it sounds pretty good actually! It barks at you when you push in the clutch to change gears! but it might just be because im a young teenager that i like mine loud and barking! i forgot to mention that the cops dont really bother us, about that, only when you get into the towns to north and south of us then they bother you about it!

I thought about cherrybombs on my 302 but instead I went with Ravin 33 series mufflers. 2 1/2" pipe from headers to mufflers with 2 1/4" tailpipes exiting before rear tires.
I've always liked the sound of Cherry Bombs. With a small block Ford the best sound to me is to run the exhaust straight out the rear using no bigger than 2" pipe.I like the crack when you snap the throttle and, if you drive sane, the law will normally ignore you.
