I wanted to stop in and say hey. I will be looking for my first Diesel 2002 F250 soon (well my dad will be seeing as I am over seas at the moment). At first I was a little nerves at getting a diesel. I can work on gassers with little to no problem. But now with all the information I have learned from you all I feel I should have no major problems that I can’t take care of. The really sad thing is I have PMS out the wazoo and the wife hates it. Any how Thanks for all the great information and with any luck I will not have to ask questions later on.
Man, you've got PMS and don't even have your truck yet!! I thought I was bad -- took about 3 weeks of driving it for me...
I too was a little intimidated looking under that hood the first time after working on gassers, but these guys are awesome. After a few weeks of reading (which it sounds like you already did), I feel like I could do pretty much anything. The one thing that I do have is a lot of time around diesels and specifically F350 CC LongBed PSDs (and our vehicle maintenance guys) from being in the military. Not sure what you do in the Navy, but I'm sure you've seen a few diesels in your time.
Welcome aboard shipmate!! Sorry, couldn't resist the Navy lingo even if you are a SeaBee. I just passed the one year mark of being out of the navy after 7 years. Anyhow, welcome to the site. You think you got PMS now, just wait until you get your truck though. A few things I would Highly recomend before you do anything though if you plan to do a lot of Wrenching is to get yourself an Electrical book from Helm Inc, and an Auto Enginuity. The AE has a very useful Datalogging feature and in hindsight on my behalf, Get a baseline recording of Pretty much All sensor data and save it. Then you can go crazy. Not sure what power levels you want to get to with your truck, but if you are looking to get too crazy, more than 350hp at the tires, then you will want to look for a late 99 or 00 truck. They come with the Factory forged rods that stand up to higher power levels a lot better. So whereabouts overseas are you?
As previously expressed, welcome aboard FTE, and a heartfelt "thank you for your service to our country" (you too, IZZY351, and all others who have served so that we may continue to have the freedoms that our fathers and you have fought for)
Welcome aboard! Hey stay safe over there. Once you go "POWERSTROKE" you never go back!! Hey bdrummonds, it great to get prompts for you and your support!! I can speak for all of us!!! THANK YOU!!

Hambonz, and all military, My thanks are not near enough for the sacrifices you and your families have made. I live just outside of Montgomery Al. and Maxwell AFB, I must say that each year around June (when the new class comes in for Air War College) that I look forward to meeting as many of you guys as I can. I also am a contractor for the Foodservice Distribution for the Army, and Air Guards, so I do see the lighter side of all you guys who have had to peel taters, when on KP. And NO I am not responsible for whatever new chicken dish(I understand you Navy guys eat alot of that) that your mess has concocted.
Currently my neighbors are a couple of Col.'s, a Loadmaster for C-5 Galaxy, Ordinance Cheif for Spectre 135's
LoL!! I stay away from chicken!! During a 10 month deployment, that is all we had was yard bird (30 days straight)!! Plenty of seagulls flying around with no replishments at sea. Make you wonder??? Hmmm...... Once again thanks to all of the FTE and everybodies support during the good and bad times!!!
Thanks for the warm welcome. At the moment I am in Bulgaria. I have been a Bee for around 11 years. But yeah I think I have gone through almost all the forms here and made a nice list of stuff I will be doing to the truck while on 30 days leave. Now if I can just tell the wife that the dog ate the money and the truck came with all the mods already.
