air shock pressure

I have an '85 bronco xlt with the towing package. it has air shocks in the rear, and a valve stem to inflate them on my bumper. I checked the pressure of the shocks yesterday 5psi. is that bad? does anyone know what pressure they should be at, and what the maximum pressure is i should inflate them to?

thanks for your help

You inflate them to correct ride height. If you are towing something, and rear has dropped, you can add air to level the ride. I used to put up to 100psi in mine depending on the circumstances. Unloaded, you will have to drop the pressure to maintain a stock ride height.
