The problem I'm having is it feels like the transmission is slipping. At first I though it might be an engine problem, as I put a new one in 3 months ago, but I would think I'd either get a check engine light or be able to hear something(I have headers on it). It "hesitates" at anything over 40mph and I don't notice any change in the RPMs or engine sound. I have noticed that it doesn't seem to want to downshift as easily and tends to bog the engine down. I lifted up the back end last night and ran it through the gears and when it goes into third gear the whole truck started vibrating and it made a light grinding noise. Any ideas?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Feb-02 AT 02:38 PM (EST)]Take the pan off the transmission. If you have metal in there, it's time for a rebuild. Otherwise check your connections and change the (damn Can't think of the name of it) its near the rear of the transmission and has a vacuum line connected to it. Replace it. IT, controls when the tranny shifts gears. $5.00 part, but I have seen it do wonders.
I am new on this board, and also have a question cause it seems that I have a similar problem.
I am also experiencing the "hard shifting" phenomenon, together with a humming-vibration while accelerating - mainly on highways or on hills where power is necessary.
Just had my tranny oil and filter changed and even put on brand new Warn premium hubs and thought the problems where gone, but it seems that the dreaded sounds are back.
When I changed the tranny oil, there really was no grinded metals so I didn't think I needed a new tranny, so I am looking into this modulator valve possibility...
My question is that from the looks from my Chiltons guide, does this valve only exist for the C6 tranny? Cause I think I have the E4OD tranny (or is that the same thing?)
And if there is a modulator valve for a E4OD tranny, where would be the best place to get this valve? An Auto Zone or Kragens?
