WARNING! Autozone has wrong part.
Went to auto zone to get a starter soleniod for my PSD. Parts guy (by the way, I know this guy very well, knows his stuff) looked up the part number, and gave me the part.
I got home, installed new soleniod, hooked everything back up and hit the key, nothing but the soleniod on the fenderwall click. Rechecked all connections and hit the key again. Nothing. pulled starter off, unbolted soleniod and rechecked averything. At this point, something in the back of my brain said to check it against the old solenoid. ( I know, I should have carried the old part with me) The solenoids were different. Back to the parts house i go with the old and new in my hand.
We checked everybook they had. Everything we checked said he gave me the right part. I said for giggles and grins, pull a complete starter off the shelf and lets look at it for comparison. It had the proper soleniod on it.
With a slight of hand, he gave me the proper part and i took it home, installed it, and has worked just fine now. Friend said he would e-mail corprate about this discovery.
By the way, this was saturday evening.
Nearest ford dealer= 30 miles(closed anyway)
Napa= closed
Autozone was my only choice at this point. So leave that to rest. Thanks.
Just wanted to warn others of this problem.

The ford dealerships kinda dropped alot of thier parts departments where I'm at and has one consolidated warehouse call ford fastparts. might be the same everywhere else. we had problems with them when we could not get a part number off a failed component and order parts be seriel number and name of component and we were recieve wrong parts. Different situation from yours but I've been through your problem with Canadian tire here in canada.
