If you have Air Conditioner, it will run and cycle when mix or defrost air is selected, the A/C system hiss's as it bleeds down after you shut off the engine. I am putting my best guess on your injectors are due for a set of new or remans. Intake noise is definatley more than you are use to on a gas engine, as there is no butterfly valve just staight shot to the intake valves. If its not a definate LOUD woof woof sound your likely OK. The fact that additive helped a bunch tells me its your injectors, are they painted grey still, and if your have 150K miles or so on the truck, they are due for replacement, and not really that expensive, lots available on line from various vendors. If you click on user CP, signature, you can post details about your truck!

Thanks for the input. I actually ordered some injectors today, I figured the same thing after the diesel kleen. I don't have an A/C on the truck, wish I did. Picked up the truck for $1400, can't complain. 1993 F-350, 7.3idi nonturbo, 5spd, crewcab with 185,000. I can't post on the signature until my 15 days are up, newbee. Thanks
Anymore input would be great.

the hiss is most likly due to a hose off the vac can all mine have developed this after many miles so i just start from the booster to the vac pump usally it is coming from the crosover line on the firewll replace and good to go sometimes when booster is going bad they will start the hiss also

luck to ya

my truck before i did the top end repair did the same thing as for as having a miss in it. come to find out it was a bad injector that instead of it spraying fuel it was dripping it. might just be a little trash in one of the injectors, so if running diesel kleen through it helped it alot try running somemore, and put a good shot of it in the tank.

Found the problem! It was a combination of a bad glow plug and a tank of not the highest quality diesel. I think it ran so good on the same diesel is because the truck ran for 7hrs straight and was plenty warm. Thanks for all the help!
