Engine in the bed, flywheel forward, or back? Flywheel back wouldn't require running anything backward, or rotation of rearends.......You would have to get creative with the drive shafts/transfer case. Another idea would be a V drive, since a v drive changes the rotation direction............aMP

Moneypit; above said 427 motor came without carb, STARTER and wet stack exhaust.
We never ran a reverse rotation motor in the normal rotation direction causing reverse oiling. As posted above replaced crank, a little thinking about installing a HV pump was used. Sorry your years behind on this rebuild as we would of never got it to run without you, LOL. Just a dumb azz A&P here.

That is an Idea. That would allow me to leave the transfercase right where it is. saving me the hassle of drivline angle issues. and it would work well in a 2wd situation as well. hmm good ideas thanx

Just a little ribbing......And as stated, you left quite abit out of the necessary changes that had to be made. This thread was a question about those changes.
I've seen the oil pump deal first hand when someone was mixing and matching twin power plant SBCs. Primed the oil system with a drill, but as soon as it started the oil pressure disappeared, re primed, disappeared.......etc. etc...Std rotation oil pump on the reverse rotation engine and vice versa......Live and learn....aMP

That's a fact! I once rebuilt a boat motor and had the crank turned. Apparently the crank shop just mixed it in with all the others despite the fact I told them it was a marine crank.... I got it back, put it in and fired it up, I can assure you it will expell oil quickly through the rear main. I was not a happy camper!
