My brother has a 93 F250 7.3turbo 4x4 with the 5spd.. Truck has 190,000mi.. Don't know when the last time a clutch was put in. He bought it at 178,000mi...
Anywhy, it goes into gear fine when the truck is off but after you start it 1st and reverse are real hard to get in and 2-5 are close behind. You kind of have to slap it into gear now. Before is slid in no prob.. It's been like this for about 1,500mi now.
I agree with catfish, I just replaced the pedel assembly bushings, and the clutch rod bushing in my 93. If they are going out fix them soon if you dont it will require some repair on the stamped steel plate that bolts to the firewall. Real pain in the a$$. I got my bushings from lmc, about $15
good luck,
Mike
one more thought to toss in to the mix. there was a thread a while back about the ford service bulletin??? about a crack in the firewall allowing the structure to flex away from the pedal bracket/assembly making the clutch bottom out right at or just before disengagement. if i remember correctly, the fix was to glue and bolt a plate to the firewall to strengthen it. this may not be your problem, but it might be.
that year truck probably has the dual mass clutch setup as well. we replace them all the time at our shop with a upgrade setup with a normal flywheel and clutch setup
Just finished this repair on my '94 F-350. It had gotten to the point that I had to kill the engine to change direction and normal shifting was a fantasy. I got my parts from rhe Ford dealer (approximately $18.00 for the plastic bushings and $18.00 for the lever that connects the shaft to the master cylinder rod.) The lever on the right end of the pedal shaft usually has wear on the pin and, since it is such a pain to do this whole repair, it is best to do everything at once. BTW, go ahead and pull the seat out of the way. This assembly is located up high behind the dash (I had the feeling that I could wash the windshield from the pedals!)
