waxed the excursion and found this

Had the thing about a month (bought w/33k mi) and my first waxing of it turns up lotsa unexpected scratches etc.

But what really bummed me out is that both front doors are bent on the lower hinge area. Appears as though when the doors are pushed open too far, they hit the lower hinge and bend.

Any idea if this would be under warranty? Haven't searched yet but I'm so bummed right now. If not under warranty I will be in there cutting back that hinge some to avoid more damage.

I have to imagine the same goes for the F250/F350 guys...

Any advice?

Thanks

I don't think it would be a warranty thing. The dealer could claim owner induced body damage. Sorry...

I have an 01 and I have the same hinge ding. I think these doors are so heavy and there is a design flaw. I am now very careful not to let a door fly open and bounce off the stop especially when parked on a hill. Make sure no paint has cracked so rust doesn't start there. JOHN

thanks for chiming in...Yes paint flaked off. AND Yes I agree it's a design flaw. Shoot maybe I did it when I was applying wax to the inner door, but I do that on all my cars and have never pushed it into the hinge.

Anyone else seen this before. I'd like to hear from others before I go in to bitch about both my doors being ruined.

I will start a new thread with pics.

Paint flaking off should be a warranty. Now proving the damage might be a difficult issue because they will claim that is why the paint is flaking. Jim

I posted to the other thread but it is NOT a design flaw. The guide that covers the door's limiting strap (I cannot think of a better name) is broken. This is causing the door to travel too far forward.
