How do I remove the lower door hinges from the front door on a 97-98 E150. It seems there is a metal tab for the roller detent in the way of the rearmost bolt.
Any diagrams available?
I've used offset box end wrenches from "behind" the hinge, standing between the door and the body.
Open the door just enough to gain access, support it in that position and first remove the door side bolts. At that point the rest goes fairly quickly.
I've replaced upper or lower hinges before by myself but if ever again the entire door would come off for easier access to the hinges as mounted on the lower A Pillar. Completely separating the door from the body would require disconnecting any power window or door lock wiring.
If you have a way to remove the hinges but support the door as it rests away from the body far enough to R&I hinges that's even better.
My plan was a little more tedious I guess, ha. I was going to remove the fender and replace one hinge at a time with the door closed. The fender needs some paint anyways...
