I am looking for something to put on to increase the brightness of the reverse lights or something that lights up when you put the truck into reverse. Mainly for plowing snow.
I mounted a couple KC HiLites 2x6 Backup lights on my 2002 F-350 to solve this problem of being able to see where you're backing up. Drilled a couple holes into the bottom of the bumper, mounted them inboard of the tires, but outboard of the trailer hitch. Put a separated switch in the dash where the adjustable pedal switch normally goes, and there was a block off plug. Ran the wiring from the battery to relay, to switch, back to the lights, through split wiring loom. Nice, clean factory look. And two 55 w. H-3 halogens do the job really nicely! http://www.kchilites.com/store/26-Series-C8.aspx
I bought the kit # 517 for about $60.00.
Thanks for the replies guys. But I posted this question in the wrong forum and apologize for that. I am going to go te route of installing my own lights and wiring them into the reverse light wire. I have the 7 pin trailer connection and splicing into the reverse wire will be easy. That way they are on for backing up and I can't forget and leave them on by mistake.
Auxillary lights on the receiver hitch are a perfect candidate for the upfitter switch. If not, at least mount a separate switch. There are times when you are in reverse that you will not want these lights on.

For all who have that bank of four upfitters, why not?
Better voltage and complete control of when to use thos bright buggers.
Works for me!
Never thought of the blinding people issue. Now I will run it through a switch and just make sure I get a lighted switch so I know when they are on. I will only be using the lights during the winter so I may just leave them off the truck (with a V-10) till I need them. Thanks for all the great replies.
