Hey Morris

Here's the axle ratios for a couple of the trucks in your yard.

Blue 1978 F-150 - H4 = 3.25:1 limited slip
Green 1979 F-150 - 14 = 3.00:1
Red 1970 F-100 - 17 = 3.25:1
Blue 1969 F-100 - 17 = 3.25:1

I got a 9" carrier with 3.70:1 but needs a pinion seal, bearings and spider gears. It's from a 1969 F-100 300 I-6/3psd. I'll trade it for 12 pack of Coca-cola. It would probably only cost $100 to fix it if you steal the spider gears from another carrier.

Nathan, thanks for the info on the axle ratios.
This is good news, I was hoping for 3.25 and the limited slip is a nice bonus.
The 3.70:1 might be a little much for hiway, any idea of the RPM at 100kmh?

100 km/h
235/75/R15 tires 28" diameter

3.70:1 ratio
C-4 = 2800 rpm
AOD = 1850 rpm

3.25:1 ratio
C-4 = 2500 rpm
AOD = 1600 rpm

I've made a Excel spreadsheet a couple years ago with all the conversion and calculators.

i think the 3.70 would be a better choice, with an aod. better in the city, more jump off the line...

My truck has 3.73:1 gears with an AOD but I also have 32" tires. 235/85/R16

It has a final drive ratio the same as 3.25:1 and 28" tires. I have also have an identical axle with 4.10:1 but the gears are bad.

This would be real good, I`ll see if I can find it but this info is good for now, thanks.
The 3.25 sound good till I get the AOD rebuilt, then the 3.50 or 3.73 would be ok.

Dustin, I think Nathan means the 77.
I`ll check the 77 F150 axle code on it tomorrow to be sure.
The 3.25 is what I`m after for the 56 for now. Lots of 9'' Ford rear ends here to replace the 77 one if I do use it.
