I am putting a new cab on my 1977 f-150 and i was wondering if anyone new of a source for the body mount sleeves that hold the upper and lower body bushings centered. The original sleeves and bushings were shot so i got an energy supensions body bushing set but now i need to find new mounting sleeves. i know that LMC truck has them but i was wondering if there are any more affordable suppliers? I thought of trying to use short peices of thick wall tubing and welding them to large diameter fender washers but if they are availible somehwere else it would be much easier.
Thanks in advance
Dave
trik fix that i`ve been doing
class 0 to class1 tractor sleaves for the three point hitch( get them at tractor supply)
take the nuts and weld them to the washer then weld a sleave to them(sorry no pics)
i bought mine from lmc truck a few years ago. new hardware the whole way around, front to back. ford used the same hardware into the 80s, i bought one, but they were really darn expensive. i couldnt find them anywhere else, but someone on the sponsor list might be making them now. the lmc parts were decent quality.
They only retail it after buying it from a manufacturer like other retailers do
Except of course Dennis Carpenter.
That's why it blows my mind why people keep suggesting them when there are sponsors that sell the same or better stuff.
I always try to buy from the sponsors, but the items I have purchased from LMC were not available at the sponsor sites (as far as I know). If I know a sponsor carries a part I will suggest it first, but if not I will tell them to go to LMC if I know they have the part. I am usually hesitant to use the "LMC" word here, because I know it's a sin to do so, but I feel the real point of this site is to help people with their ford trucks. I think it would be better to give the person the part number from a sponsor site, rather than make the person who was trying to help feel like he had just sworn in church.
What is different about 4x2 and 4x4 bushings and hardware? I'll probably have to use the washer and pipe idea for my radiator support since the upper retainer no longer exists.
I usually do the same thing as Cujo does. LMC as the last resort. Not to bash LMC, but I think the sponser sites offer a better product. As far as price goes, most suppliers are just a few bucks off, not too bad. Dennis Carpenter is a good company and why they don't sponser this site is beyond me, but oh well, to each his own. I have sent PM's to fellow members a couple of times regarding LMC, but only after I checked with sponser sites. I think many people who suggest LMC first, are people who are very new to FTE or just don't know any better. I do think that If people are going to use this site, that they keep sponser sites first and then so on. NPD, Bronco Graveyard, Auto Krafters, BOTP are all sites you can buy online so it makes it easy. Dennis Carpenter-you can now buy online. So, LMC should be last. If your like me, I price compare and product compare, so people should be looking at sponser sites anyway and just not one company. Not too many things you can buy from LMC that aren't on sponser sites. If the sponser sites are way more expensive, usually it's because the sponser sites are offering a better product (OEM/NOS). Get what you pay for. Too bad LMC doesn't sponser this site along with Dennis Carpenter. Sorry, to get off topic.
