I hope you dont have Progressive. I see at our shop all the time and they draw out with markers every thing they want repaired, how they want it repaired to every detail and many used parts are required by insurance companies. Especially on near total collisions. They just tell the customer that they will accept used parts or total thier vehicle. In many cases the customer owes more than the vehicle will total for.

1) Your owner's manual has nothing to do with your insurance company
2) OEM specs are just that. They can be followed by anyone. Don't be sure about a Ford dealer using Ford body parts. If they can save a buck, they will.

I'd be surprised if your repair bill doesn't top $5,000+ with what you described...

This seems like an open and shut case for small claims court, have your truck fixed and take her to court. She may even want to settle out of court for the repair cost of your truck rather than go through the trouble. I would give her a call, tell her that her insurance is no good and she owes you for repairs, if not you'll see her in court. You can tack the court costs onto the amount you are sueing for.

Good Luck.

I got a repair estimate the other day, and it'll cost $3750 to repair, plus a rental car. I decided to go ahead and file a claim with my insurance. I called my agent, and he said that my rates wouldnt go up, and that for this type of claim, I only have a $250 deductible. I felt sorry for the lady that hit me until I realized that she forged her insurance card. I contacted her, and told her the amount of the estimate, and asked if she could afford to pay that. She said she'd call me back, and never did. It really pisses me off when people say that they'll call me, and then dont, especially when its important. So I no longer have any sympathy for her. I know that my insurance company will probably go after her, but I dont really care...I just want my truck fixed...I'm tired of looking at it.

I agree with this and tell the guys at work to do it....
I remember when i was in san diego, i called the cops and they said that if no one was hurt, they weren't coming out, they were too busy.
