Another banged up F100

I had a wreck on 1-30-04 in Huntersville NC at the corner of Sam Furr and I77 if anyone happened to be a witness please help me out.
Now for the short version. I Exited the I77N ramp, traffic was backed up the ramp. I sat through about 3 lights. Finally came up to the the line but the light had aready turned yellow. I had my daughter and her friend in the truck so played it safe and stopped. As my light turned green I saw all traffic stop in both directions so I took off. A lady in a 2003 Explorer ran the light from the second lane of traffic on my left. I could'nt see past the first lane but did not see anyone moving. She hit us in the left fender, wheel and door. Tore my truck up pretty bad.
She was sitting against my door so instead of making the girls get out into traffic so I could get out I waited for the law to show up. So in my stupidity and confused state I failed to get a witness.
I checked on the lady through my window and she said she was ok. A fellow came up behind her and said he had called it in.
Want to let eveyone who reads this to learn from it.
I found out yesterday that the lady is saying I ran the light and that she is injured. She was'nt hurt at the scene and refused treatment. I have a bad back with an operation in the past and many injections. I was hurting but did'nt want to be one of those people that sue over spilt coffee.
It costs to try and be an honest person in this country.
I am very thankful to the one in power that neither my daughter, her friend or even the lady was'nt injured
So when you get in the accident make sure no matter what else you do get a witness

I hate to hear this kind of story, but some people will try anything to get out of being at fault. She may indeed be sore and banged up a day or so after a wreck, that part is understandable.

Did the police officer issue any citations at the scene or did she recall the events of the accident after seeing her attorney?

On edit, They wouldn't happen to have the cameras watching the red lights at that intersection, by chance?

Sounds like lawyer time. He will have to get the 911 records and the telphone numbers of anyone that called in the accident and work backwards from there to get the witnesses.

I got the 911 records and the phone number of the caller. My wife called him tonight to ask if he saw anything. I does'nt remember calling in the accident. Pretty short memory. I'm pretty sure that was the guy that asked us if we were O.K. Just does'nt want to be inconvinenced I guess.
Heard from my insurance and after they saw the police report they are denying her claim. The report has it down as her not slowing down and inattention as the faults and no faults under me. According to my agent it's enough for them to deny the claim but she talked to the other insurance company and told me that they would also deny my claim.
I will try the phone number one more time.
I should here from the ladies insurance tomorrow and I think I'm gonna tell them that since I work for myself I'm gonna build me a big sign and sit on the side of the road asking for witnesess. Telling my sad story about how the mean ol insurance companies are raping another working man. The color of my truck stands out in a crowd and anyone seeing it in an accident will remember it a little while. Maybe one of them will have more integrity than the guy that phoned it in.
I did'nt see any camers at the accident seen but good thinking.
Clint
