Well, my 5 month old truck, with 12,000 miles on it was involved in a wreck earlier today. I was traveling in the right lane, and some guy turned left into the lane next to me, and cut off a lady driving driving in that lane. She swerved to miss him, and hit me. Theres not a lot of body damage to my truck, but mainly paint damage all down the driver's side. Even though the guy cut that lady off, his car never actually made contact with another car, so he is off the hook. It wound up being the lady's fault, because she "failed to stay in her lane."
I called the police, and got the lady's insurance information, but when I got home, I called the insurance company, and they said that her policy had been cancelled. So, I may have to file a claim with my insurance company, but I bet that the cost to fix my truck will be under my deductible, and I'll have to eat the cost of repairs to my truck that were not my fault.
Wow, that sucks, hope it works out for you. I know how it feels to have your new truck damaged; my drivers door had to be replaced at 1500 miles, but that didn’t cost me anything but time.
That does suck. The same thing happened to my sister hear in New Jersey where we already pay for uninsured motorsts with our payments. The least thing she should do is give you the title and the keys to hear car and give hear lisence to the police. I wish you the best.

and that is why I make the cops come to the scene of any accident I am ever in. that way some moron who is driving illegally gets a ticket. I know it's poor consolation in this case, but I'd see if the police could at least ticket her.
I should have called and verified her insurance information at the scene. I thought everything was legit, because she handed me the actual insurance paperwork. I wish something would have been done to the guy that caused the wreck. He turned left onto the road, and cut the lady off, and she only hit me because she swerved to miss him. He was very arrogant about the fact that he was not "involved" in the wreck, and the cop let him go.
So now I'm probably going to have to pay for this out of my own pocket, since my deductible is $1000. Minor body damage was done to the front quarter panel, drivers door, and the wheel molding on the bed, and the drivers front wheel is scratched pretty bad, and will probably need to be replaced. Theres also paint work all down the side of my truck that needs to be done, and the drivers mirror needs to be replaced. I have no clue how much this will cost, but I want everything fixed back exactly the way it was....NEW. I dont want a single ounce of that bondo crap on my truck.
Well when they had to replace my drivers door and mirror it hit $3500. I think you’ll be surprised at how much it’s going to cost. The body shops have to do it the insurance companies way, which usually means used parts. I find that if you go to a dealers body shop you’re more likely to get new parts, at least that’s been my experience around here and sadly I’ve spent a lot of time at them lately.
I'll probably go back to the dealer that I bought the truck from. This was my first vehicle purchase, but my parents have bought about a dozen cars from them, and their service is outstanding.
Police should ticket her for not having insurance. Why should you have to pay for someone else's mistake. She hit you, she has no insurance, not your problem. Go after her for the repair $.....

Reason: removed suing talk
the insurance company has to ensure that the repair meets the original OEM specs. near the back of your owners manual they have an entire section about this. I'd take it to the Ford dealership. at least that way you get OEM parts and not aftermarket knock-off.
Would the policy be able to ticket her, after the fact? I called the police after the wreck happened...always do, and she did provide seemingly valid insurance.
I'm mainly worried about paying for this out of my own pocket, so I can go ahead and get my truck fixed. I just paid off a bunch of debt, so I dont have much money laying around right now for stuff like this.
