Cleaned Maf sensor now will not run

Okay I cleaned my Maf Sensor and the truck starts and dies. What gives never touched the wire. Help 1999 5.4L Phone Ford and they want $270 for a new one. Any help would be great. When I uplug it runs fine can I unplug and drive to the shop?

Thanks

Mark

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes to reset the pcm? This will set new settings to the clean MAF.

Make sure you mounted it in the correct direction.
I put mine on backward once, and it did exactly what you describe.

There's an arrow that indicates what direction the air is supposed to flow.

BTW you can get a remanufactured MAF from Autozone for like $70 after the core charge (you have to give them your old one).

I talked to a K&N rep yesterday, and he said the epoxy in the MAFs eventually leak down on to the sensor and cause issues. Take a good look at the wires, you maybe having this issue.

No, but you really should pull the MAF out of the vehicle. That will allow you to spray the heck out of the sensor with getting any in the engine and it will be disconnected so no shorts.
