i was told i should check my idle air controller and clean it along with my MAF sensor. i alreayd cleaned my MAF. it was already clean as a whistle. but im having troulbe trying to find my IAC. can someone tell me where its at? a picture would be even better. its a 95 5.0 MAF if that helps any.
also how would i clean it? would MAF cleaner be okay to use on it?
Anyways remove it and there will be a hole that carbon likes to build up in.
You can take a wire coat hanger and dig the crud out. I'd use brake clean myself or carb cleaner but whatever you use just make sure you install a new gasket or that your old one is still in good shape when you put it back on.
thank you. i got it pulled off. how would i go about cleaning it? i got the whole valve part off. anything i should do to check it? i read somewhere to make sure its plugged in and and turn the key to the on position wihtout startign it and see if it moves in or out. would spraying it with MAF cleaner be okay?
the main reason why im doing all this was because i took it to my friends dads garage and let them run the codes on it because my engine light has been coming on and going off. but it said their wasnt any codes on it. i told them that when your going slower the trucks starts to jump a little bit but if you give it more gas then it would come out of it and straighten up. they told me to check the MAF wich i did and it was absolutely spotless, and then the IAC. wich im doing now. do you guys think this would be the cause maybe? or should i be looking at something else?
the MAP sensor is located on the firewall. it will be towards the passenger side and have a vacuum line going to the intake plenum and have an electrical plug to it. Manifold Absolute Pressure
oh then no i didnt clean it. ive only cleaned the MAF so far. how would i go about cleanign the IAC? just spray some MAF sesnor cleaner in it? what could i use to clean the carbon out with?
either a pick or small screw driver or like i mentioned above use a wire hanger. just scrap it all out of there. whats your truck doing ? Is your idle fluctuating ?

The IAC is always a good thing to look into at when no codes are present, as it is one of the things that can fail w/o resulting in a code. Have you checked it's function yet as mentioned on the link?
