fried something....

i was installing my new alarm today and i accidently plugged the headlight switch in while the battery was connected, and blew a fuse. After that, about every ten seconds there was a vibrating sound coming from the middle of the dash. About 10 minutes after that it smelt like something was on fire for about 4 seconds then the smell and vibrating sound went away. I pulled the headlight switch out and it smells like the smoke did when something was burning...now my instrument panel lights (mph,rpm) dont light up and also my ac switches dont light up...any suggestions???

Year make and model will help. It could be as simple as a fried headlight switch, but I'd also suspect your GEM if you have one.

GEM is general electronics module. Do you have power door locks and do they still work? Any other things not working?

yes all the power door locks work...the only things that dont work are the instrument lights, the steering wheel button lights, and the a/c control lights...thanks
