I have a 97 Expedition. Recently the auto headlight switch would not turn the lights off. After it times out I hear it clicking and turning the lights on and off and then they just stay on. I can turn them off by switching the auto lamp to off. I assume it's the auto lamp control module. Unfortunately my manual doesn't provide much information about the module. Does anyone know where it is located? The this sound like a control module problem or possibly something else?
The module is in the headlight switch itself. A trip to the junkyard might be your best bet. I added that option to my 98 and I got everything from a junkyard.

I've been thinking of doing this. Do you have a list of all the items you needed to get for the conversion?

If I remember correctly you need the switch ***. the light sensor and the oval shaped peice of trim in the top of the dash with the holes through it to allow the sensor to work. The switch needs to come from a expy I think. My trim peice came from a f150 and the sensor came out of a Taurus. The plug is different on different years and applications on the sensor so you need one that is correct for your year. I also took the plugs from the donar vehicle along with as much wiring connected to them as I could get. If you have a wiring manual the job is greatly simplified as I had to run an extra wire or two between the sensor and the switch. If you have a freindly ford parts person they can tell you what will work as far as the sensor is concerned. That is how I ended up with a sensor out of a Taurus.
