hi guys my truck wont start when its cold (40 or less) unless its plugged in. i remember reading about someone ohm testing the glow plugs does anyone know the values and what wires to check. thanks
Check THIS ARTICLE on the glow plug system - very complete and detailed. The only change is the part number for the glow plugs from AutoZone is now ZD-11 instead of ZD-10. Ford parts in motorcraft bags for half the cost from the dealership.
Help! I have recently installed new glow plugs and glow plug controler. When I tried to start it after the install it started to go through the cycle but stopped as if something blew. Now the glow plug comes on for a real long time and I cannot hear the click of the controler. I have checked and rechecked the electrical connections so does it sound like the barometric or oil temp sensers or what? Any ideas where to go to next?
You would do well to start a new thread instead of posting your new question at the end of an old thread. Also, some more information would be helpful.
Year, model and options on your truck.
Any modifications you have done, especially engine related.

Check your GP relay, either jump the big posts for 20-30 seconds and then crank the engine or throw a test light on the driverside post when you turn the key on and see if voltage is getting to that post. Usually a no start situation is a GPR and hard start is a GP. Also look at your Valve cover plug pins for burnt/corroded pins
