Jet performance chip; anyone know much about them?
Hi all,
I have a 2000 F-150 (the 5.4 Triton motor) I have a friend who is getting rid of many parts off of his 2000 F-150 with the same engine because of installing a super charger. He has the Jet Performance chip that he offered to me very cheap. I tried to do some research on the actual performance of this chip to see if it is really worth it. It seems to get mixed reviews. The claim this chip makes is to increase horse power as well as increase miles per gallon. It seems to me that if it sounds to good to be true, it is. Can anyone offer me any suggestions or their opinion about these performance chips? Thanks-Jason

The Jet chip only tunes the engine at wide open throttle. It does not increase mileage and when used in combination with the lower temp thermostat they recommend it actually lowers mileage.

Thanks for replying so quick. I guess I just want to respond to your comment with another question. When you say using the jet chip with a lower temp thermostat, the gas mileage on my ruck would be worse?
