I try and pick up the sticks that fall outta the trees over the winter (usually means raking them, which gets old in a real hurry), .
I will send over my dog. She is the best four legged mulcher I have ever seen. Cheap on fuel too! Ten lbs of food every two weeks and all the branches she can eat. Saved me one dump run already this year.
I just let my goats loose in the yard during the day and pen them at night. While they are mowing the grass they tend to fertilize it too. If they get behind I grab the lawnmower and weedeater. Works real well for me I don't have to fuss over the yard alot and the goats don't go through near as much feed. They also get their exercise without me having to put up a grand to fence the yard. I will have to start tying them where I want them to eat soon so they wont eat my veggys.
We've got goats too but I don't let them out in the front yard any more they climb on my little truck and spend all of their time trying to get into the garage and stuff. the sheep will come when I call them and they don't climb on things. They will come into the garage and watch me but thats all, I still don't know why they are so facinated with watching me in the garage.
I do the biggest share of the yard work, here at my HOA. Thanks guys, for reminding me to sharpen the mower blades. Argh.
We usually hire the spring fertilizing and weed protection, but it hasn't done much good. The crabgrass still just drives me nuts. I only mow once a week. As tight as our budget is, I'll have to get out and start buying the summer's fertilizer real soon. We usually only fertilize twice a year..spring and early fall.
OK... I probably should go to bed so I can make myself hurt again tomorrow...but I probably won't, yet.
