If it's an auto which is a FMX box get yourself a later C-6, many more available and cheaper to rebuild.
If power steering or needing power steering get a Saginaw box (2 bolt cover)
vs the Bendix (4 bolt).
Think about disc brake conversion.

Thanks . My new toy is from North Carolina and is about 98% rust free.It has accident damage on the right front but the frame and cab are okay.I already have most of the parts to fix it. It is an auto with manual steering and brakes. I've already got a C6 and power disc brakes are on the to do list.Thinking on keeping the manual steering though.I like the feel and the combination of a big block, fat tires and manual steering will keep the curious from wanting to take it for a joy ride.I'll post some pics in the future.
While your truck is running take your time and locate everything for a future PS swap, you may change your mind go to PS later on. Better to have everything in storage now vs looking for parts later on when it will be harder to find them on these old trucks. What's old in wrecking yards these days anything 1995 and older?
